FIDIC Contracts: Practical Application is a five-day course on the practical use of FIDIC contracts, delivered by Mars Training Centre at international venues — in London, Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Cairo, and Amman — designed for engineers, project managers, contract managers, and commercial leaders working on international engineering and construction projects.
The FIDIC suite of contracts — including the Red, Yellow, and Silver Books — is a widely-used industry standard for international engineering, procurement, and construction projects. Owners, contractors, consultants, and lenders across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa rely on FIDIC forms to allocate risk, govern variations, manage claims, and resolve disputes. Misreading these contracts costs projects time, money, and reputation, and senior commercial and engineering leaders need a fluent, practical command of how they actually work.
Across five focused days, you will work through the structure, mechanics, and live application of the principal FIDIC contracts. The week is built around real clauses, real claim scenarios, and real dispute pathways — not abstract theory. You will draft notices, price variations, respond to claims, and prepare disputes through the FIDIC mechanisms that govern them. You leave with a personal action plan grounded in your own project portfolio.
Mars references the FIDIC suite descriptively, as a widely-used industry standard. This course does not carry FIDIC accreditation; we teach the practical application of the contracts.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this programme, you will be able to:
- Distinguish between the principal FIDIC contracts and select the appropriate form.
- Interpret the general and particular conditions of FIDIC contracts.
- Apply the FIDIC risk allocation framework in a live project context.
- Manage the role of the Engineer under the Red and Yellow Books.
- Operate the variation and change mechanisms under FIDIC.
- Issue and respond to claims under the FIDIC notice and time-bar regime.
- Manage the FIDIC dispute pathway from DAAB through to arbitration.
- Administer payment, programme, and completion mechanisms rigorously.
- Identify the implications of the 2017 FIDIC editions versus earlier forms.
- Brief senior stakeholders on FIDIC contract exposure.
How You Will Benefit
You will leave with a fluent, practical command of FIDIC contracts, the confidence to manage notices, claims, and variations under them, and a Mars Certificate of Completion.
Your organisation will gain a contract or project leader who can manage FIDIC-based projects with discipline, protect entitlement, and reduce the cost of dispute exposure.
